Plateau, South African Varsities Sign MoU On Training

The Solomon Lar University, Bokkos, Plateau State, has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the University of Johannesburg in South Africa for the training of its academic staff on doctoral programmes.

The agreement is aimed at raising the academic standard of the university in research and postgraduate programmes, among others.

A statement by the Public Relations Officer of the university, Mr. John Agams, on Monday, said the MoU was signed at the office of the Vice-Chancellor and Principal of the University of Johannesburg, South Africa, Prof. Ihron Rensberg, two weeks ago.

Under the agreement, the University of Johannesburg will enrol Solomon Lar University staff for studies in areas it deems crucial for development.

The statement said, “The MoU was signed on Wednesday, January 15, 2014 at the University of Johannesburg by the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Docknan Sheni, for Solomon Lar University, and Prof. Ihron Rensberg, Vice -Chancellor and Principal for University of Johannesburg.

Agams said the programme would start this academic session and that Solomon Lar University would be sending at least 17 doctoral students to South Africa for studies.
