In accordance with the provisions of Paul University's (Miscellaneous Provisions) Decree 1993, No. 11 as amended, the Governing Council directs that applications be invited from suitably qualified candidates with cognate experience in University teaching, research and administration.
The Vice-Chancellor is the Chief Executive as well as Chairman of Senate, Convocation and Congregation. He is responsible to Council in matters of policy implementation in the areas of finance, property/facilities, day-to-day general administration and good governance of the Institution. The Vice-Chancellor as the Chairman of Senate is responsible for the administration of academic programmes and students' discipline, in consonance with extant rules and regulations.
The candidate for the post of Vice-Chancellor:
a) Should be a highly distinguished academic of the rank of Professor, with ability to provide academic leadership (Management and Administration);
b) Must possess ability to build the needed bridges between the University Community on one hand and its stake-holders on the other hand, and be above petty ethnic, religious and local loyalties and biases;
c) Should be able to perform any other lawful duties and responsibilities as may from time to time be directed by Council.
d) Should not be above 70 years old by the end of Year 2023, except for candidates invited to apply either by the Board of Trustees or the Council.

5.0 Tenure and Conditions of Service
The appointment shall be for a term of five (5) years. The conditions of service are the same as contained in the extant laws of Paul University. In addition, the successful candidate shall enjoy any other benefits attached to the position of a Principal Officer of the University as may be approved by the Governing Council.
