The original and longest running award scheme of its kind, the 9th edition of the pan-African (Re)Insurance Journalism Awards is inviting entries from across the continent.
The awards are an extension of Continental Reinsurance’s continued commitment to the advancement of excellence in the industry. They pay tribute to an industry that has in countless cases helped individuals and businesses to recover from injury and loss.
Since its launch in 2015 the awards have been recognising the outstanding work of journalists on re/insurance from across the continent.
The candidates who can best demonstrate how their articles have advanced the understanding of the re/insurance sector in Africa will walk away with the knowledge they are playing a vital part in elevating societies and stimulating progress amongst communities across Africa.

Aim and Benefits of Pan African Re/Insurance Journalism Awards
- Award recipients are recognised at the Awards Ceremony to be held alongside an industry event and will receive a complimentary invitation to the event (health and government restrictions permitting). The cost of travel and hotel accommodation will be borne by Continental Re.
- The names and photos of the award recipients and the awards that they have won will be published in Continental Re's literature and online channels to celebrate the achievements of the award winners.
- Recipients may use their award titles for their own professional development.
Requirements for Pan African Re/Insurance Journalism Awards Qualification
- Submission can be either a published article - print, online or broadcast (radio/television clip) in English, French or Arabic.
- Only one article can be entered for each category.
- Entrants must be journalists based in any African country.
- The review period of the entries is 12 months leading up to the submission deadline date.
Interview date, Process and Venue for Pan African Re/Insurance Journalism Awards
Selection Process
- An international judging panel comprising industry experts and academics in journalism will review and select the winner entries.
- The judging panel will evaluate all submitted material according to the quality of information and how it contributes to creating a better understanding of the benefits insurance can deliver to individuals, communities and societies at large.
