Oxford University, United Kingdom, has donated 16 science equipment to Adekunle Ajasin University, Akungba-Akoko.
While inspecting the equipment Monday last week, the Deputy Vice Chancellor, Prof. Rotimi Ajayi, said the initiative was facilitated by the University’s Dean of Science, Dr. Victor Olumekun, adding that, “the facility will definitely improve our laboratory.”
The DVC thanked the donor and the facilitator for the kind gesture.
Speaking with the Information Unit of the University, Dr. Olumekun confirmed that the equipment were given to the University “free of charge except the token paid for shipping from UK to this place,” adding that “it is important for us to use our contacts with Universities abroad to support us and we will continue to sustain our contacts with them. ”
The equipment are Varian 3600 GC, HP GC, 2x ABI HPLC, 140D Model and 785 Model, One Erma Inc HPLC used for Hydrazinolysis, Gilson 805 manometric module 60MPa, 811B Dynamic Mixer, 306 PUMP and 3x 802 PUMPs.
Others are 4x 302 PUMPs, Beckman Du-70 Spectrophotometer, Eppendorf 5415 Centrifuge, Hybridisation Oven, 3x power packs, 2 Pharmacia Piston Pumps, 1 Fraction Collector (Frac100) and 1 UV Monitor.
While receiving the software on behalf of the Vice Chancellor of AAUA, Prof. Femi Mimiko, the Deputy Vice Chancellor, Prof. Rotimi Ajayi, thanked the company for the donation and promised that the software would be put to judicious use – to enhance effective teaching and research.
