The Zonal Coordinator of the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board in Benue State, Mr. Samuel Umoru, yesterday said that the candidates who were arrested on Monday in Benue State following their involvement in a violent protest that injured some of the JAMB officials may not participate in the 2015 UTME unless police release them before their exam dates.
According to him the actions of the candidates were unjustifiable adding that police is still on investigation and interrogation and might charge the candidates to court afterwards.
“I cannot guarantee the release of the arrested candidates for now and whether they will be allowed to write the forthcoming examinations; only the police can determine that.” He said.
It was learnt that the candidates during the protest destroyed part of the agency’s building, vandalized a transformer as well as some vehicles belonging to staff of the board.
