Now lets go through the admission requirements for Accounting before discussing about the O’level (NECO/WAEC) and JAMB approved subjects combination.

WAEC and NECO Admission Requirements For Studying Accounting

Studying Accounting or Accountancy as the case may present itself requires that candidate posses the following:

a) Must have obtained a minimum of 5 O’level credits in Mathematics, English Language, Economics and any 2 other O’level subjects, preferable, 1 science and one non science subjects. (Government, Geography, or Biology, Agricultural science)

Please note that Commerce as a subject for candidates is not a major requirement, it can take the place of Government or Geography.

b) As part of the requirements to study accounting, cut off mark may not be seen as a WAEC or NECO subject combination for Accounting, however, it has a defining role to play in the admission process. It is advised that prospective students score up to 250 minimum JAMB cut off mark and above to stand a chance of studying Accounting because it is a very competitive course under management or social science faculty.

In the above, we have listed the two major requirements and correct O’level subjects combination for studying Accounting.

We will not deny the fact that JAMB subject combination for Accounting is also a key metric for determining whether a candidate is eligible to sit for Accounting or not during the UTME.
