Lecturers of the federal polytechnic Federal Polytechnic, Offa (OFFA POLY) last week boycotted the on-going examinations to protest their unpaid salaries.
Following this, the students who sensed that the decision of the lecturers was not in their best interest, engaged in a violent protest that interrupted free vehicular movement for hours.
The students carrying placards with inscriptions such as “No to strike” and “Exam must continue.” were said to have gone to the palace of the Oba of Oba Mufutau Agbadamosi , calling on the traditional ruler to intervene.
The protesting students were later dispersed by a team of security operatives who threw teargas and shot sporadically in the air.
