Obi Okoli was born in Ogboji Anambra state in the eastern part of Nigeria. Upon successful completion of his primary and attended Agulu Grammar School, Agulu where he completed his secondary school education. a In pursuit of a higher education, Veteran actor Obi Okoli gained admission to study Theatre Arts in the University of Ibadan (UI) where he graduated with a Bachelor of Arts (BA) in Theatre Arts in 1979, went for his compulsory National Youth Service Corps and completed it in 1980.
