OAU notice to students residing in BOT Hostels

Following the resumption of Academic activities there was an online campaign geared at ameliorating the effects of the pandemic on students particularly in the aspect of private hostel accommodation, the BOT (Build Operate and Transfer)with the Private Hostels owners.

Considering that the hostels are completely private for the tenure of its lease we were only left with the option of appealing to the Managements of the hostels in which they were most considerate and magnanimous, while accepting that some of the hostel management took bank loans to build the hostels, continually paid all bills regardless of students absence and still had to pay other dues as was necessary to keep the lease active we were able to agree to certain terms which include;

1. A communique that communicates this decision

2. Concession of part of the Hostel Fees; Some Managements agreed to a 40% reduction for the last year's rent while some could only give a concession of about 7.5%

We encourage students to always communicate grievances as the management is poised to tackling the issues head on.

Thanks.
