Obafemi Awolowo University has been ranked the best university in Nigeria for the fifth consecutive time by cybermetrics. The universities of Lagos and Ilorin came second and third respectively.
According to a statement issued by the Public Relations Officer, OAU, Mr. Abiodun Olarewaju, the university has attained this enviable position based on the fact that the curricular, research, academic and general administration of the university is the best in the country.
Speaking on this development, the Vice chancellor, OAU, Prof. Bamitale Omole said that this is the first time in the history of higher education in Nigeria a university will maintain such position for 5 consecutive times.
The VC who attributed this feat to the hard work and dedication to duty of the academic, administrative and technical members of staff also said that he would not rest until the university attains the best in Africa and one of the top ten in the world.
He finally called on the Government and the Alumni of the institution to invest more funds and assist in the overall development of the institution.
