The Osun State Police Command has detained the hit-and-run driver who killed a 400 level medical student of the Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife, Mr Seun Olorunfemi.
It will be recalled that the student from the Department of Medicine and Surgery, was knocked down by the driver in Ile-Ife and was rushed to OAU Teaching Hospital where he was in a coma for few days.
He eventually died on the 25th of December, 2016.
Confirming the arrest to newsmen, the Police Public Relations Officer in the State, SP Folasade Odoro, said “I can confirm to you that the driver has been apprehended and detained. The necessary investigation would be carried out and appropriate steps would be taken.”
Also, the Public Relations Officer of the institution, Mr Abiodun Olanrewaju, noted that the death of the brilliant student was painful. “The OAU management sympathised with the family and relations of the deceased as well as the College of Health Sciences,” he added.
