Beware of Scam: False Staff Recruitment Alert at OAU, Ile-Ife

The management of Obafemi Awolowo University (OAU), Ile-Ife, Osun State, has publicly disavowed recent online rumours suggesting an ongoing staff recruitment exercise at the university. The university vehemently decries these rumours as not only false but also harmful, malicious, and deceptive.

No Official Business Conducted Through Social Media

In the wake of these allegations, Professor Adebayo Simeon Bamire, the Vice-Chancellor of the university, has issued a clear statement to the public. He emphasizes that he does not grant contracts, provide employment, or carry out any other official functions through social media platforms. The Vice-Chancellor is committed to upholding the principles of transparency, integrity, and due process in all his official duties.

OAU’s Stand Against Corrupt Practices

The university management urges the public, especially job seekers and those pursuing contracts, to understand that neither the Vice-Chancellor nor any representative will demand financial inducements to carry out official responsibilities.

OAU, renowned for its high academic standards and international reputation, unequivocally disassociates itself from secretive or clandestine hiring practices or contract awards. The Vice-Chancellor and other principal officers will never solicit any form of monetary or material gratification from applicants.

Due Process in Recruitment and Contract Awarding

The university asserts that all staff recruitment exercises and contract awards strictly adhere to due process. Any vacancies are announced via advertisements in two widely-read national dailies and displayed on the university’s official website. Moreover, the university does not engage the services of external agents for recruitment or contract awarding processes.

Caution to the General Public

The university implores the public to dismiss entirely the content of the aforementioned deceptive conversation concerning OAU or its Vice-Chancellor. OAU has no affiliation or relationship with any individual or group claiming to represent the university on social media.

Any actions purportedly performed on behalf of the university or its Vice-Chancellor concerning contract awards or staff recruitment on social media platforms are unequivocally disclaimed by the university. Consequently, any individual or group that transacts business under the university’s name on social media platforms does so at their own risk, and the university will not be held accountable for such imprudent ventures.
