As from the coming Batch A 2012 NYSC Programme, corpers will no longer be posted to Urban Areas and there will be no provision for redeployment. This was made known to the public by the Minister of Youth Development Mallam Bolaji Abdulahi at the budget defence session with the House of Representatives committee on youth development.
He stated that this has become necessary due to the mass rejection of corpers by banks and other organizations insisting that from now on, corp members will be posted to areas of concerns in the country including agriculture, rural health, infrastructure and education.
He said: “It is a deliberate attempt to apply the skill of corps members to areas of critical need and to fast-track the nation’s socio-economic transformation.”
This is a new deployment policy which has now been approved by the Federal Government.
