The Director-General, National Youth Service Corps (NYSC), Brig.-Gen. Shuaibu Ibrahim has disclosed that the scheme is probing 1,000 corps members who attempted to maneuver their posting and redeployment to their respective states of interest.

Ibrahim made the disclosure while fielding questions from journalists at the launch of the 2020 inspectors development program, with the theme: Optimising the Ideals of the Scheme Through Effective Utilisation of the NYSC Inspector.

According to the DG, The NYSC had suspended the accounts of some corps members in the 2021 Batch A, Streams 1 and 2, for allegedly seeking redeployment from the original states they were posted to. Others were said to have requested for redeployment from some states, especially in the North because of insecurity, while a few others sought redeployment on health grounds.

After canceling their application for redeployment, the NYSC also suspended their accounts, stopping their monthly allowance. The affected corps members are also being investigated, those found guilty would face disciplinary action.
