Nyako Commends Adamawa Varsity for Excelling in Academic Activities:

Governor Murtala Nyako of Adamawa State has commended the state university in Mubi for excelling in academic activities.

Nyako made the commendation on Monday in Yola while receiving a letter of award and trophies won by the university in an academic programme coordinated by Oxford University, London.

He observed that since its inception, the university had made the state proud in academic performance, based on the accreditation of its courses by the National Universities Commission.

He said the administration would continue to assist the university to collaborate with recognised universities in the world, to meet higher academic standards.

Nyako said already, the government was in touch with University of Frankfurt in Germany for the proposed opening of the Faculty of Medicine of the Adamawa University.

He also lauded the state Ministry of Education and its agencies for their commitment to the transformation of the sector.

Nyako said since the inception of his administration, the number of students scoring five credits and above in West African Examinations Council and other related examinations had risen from two to 50 per cent.

Earlier, the Vice-Chancellor of the university, Prof. Alkassim Abba, said the university award was won by the university after the assessment of its staff qualities, accreditation, exchange programme and regular implementation of courses and subjects.
