The National Universities Commission, NUC, is set to introduce entrepreneurial skills at undergraduate level in the nations tertiary institutions.
This was revealed yesterday by the executive secretary of the commission, Prof Julius Okojie when a memorandum of understanding was signed by the Commission, Kaduna State University and Small and Medium Development Enterprise,SMEDAN.
Okojie emphasised that its introduction had become a thing of necessity as practised in developed countries so that so that the emphasis on white collar jobs is reduced.
He said “with this, We will be encouraging cottage industries and that is why there are universities of agriculture and technology. We share best practices with that of the world and if you have an idea, let it grow.”
He further assured that while the Commission will strive to see that the concept succeeds in the university system, NUC will encourage many of such developments with “quality assurance and guidelines, and funds for research will be provided.”
