Following the federal government’s approval for schools to reopen, the National Universities Commission (NUC) has directed schools to put finishing touches on their reopening arrangements.
The Commission ordered Vice-Chancellors to endeavour that the necessary safety protocols are put in place according to the guidelines set by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC).
NUC admonished schools to ensure strict adherence with the quality assurance standards of the commission, adding that Universities must under no circumstances, violate the full cycle of the semester system, consistent with the NUC approved Benchmark Minimum Academic Standards (BMAS).
According to the NUC, universities are to expect visits for the inspection of staff officers, lecture theatres, laboratories, libraries, accommodation, healthcare facilities, among others.
