NUC lifts suspension on Lead City University

The suspension of the operational licence of Lead City University, Ibadan has been lifted by the National Universities Commission.

The commission however insisted that it will continue to monitor what it describes as “the implementation of the agreed actions in respect of the outcomes of the forensic audit report”.

In a letter signed by the NUC’s director of Quality Assurance, Professor C.F. Mafianu, and addressed to the university authorities, the NUC stated that the action is to take effect from the 18th of September 2012.

It was also stated in the letter that the regulatory body will not hesitate to impose appropriate sanctions should there be further observed breaches.

The NUC had earlier in the year suspended the operational license of seven private tertiary institutions but in August restored the license of three of the universities.

The affected universities were Madonna University, Okija; Achiever’s University, Owo; and Tansian University, Umunya.

Others listed by the commission are Caritas University, Amorji-Nike, Enugu, Lead City University, Ibadan, and Joseph Ayo Babalola University, (JABU), Ikeji- Arakeji, Osun
