NUC Accredits 18 New Courses In Osun State University (UNIOSUN)

News reaching us states that the Nigerian University Commission has approved a total of 18 new courses to be offered under graduate and postgraduate levels.

This was announced to the university through a letter of approval from the Nigerian University Commission Executive Secretary Professor Abubakar Rasheed to the VC of Osun State University, (UNIOSUN) Professor Labode Popoola.

The breakdown of the newly approved courses across board includes 9 undergraduate programmes, 9 postgraduate programmes. Some the approved programmes were granted nod to commence both Masters and Ph.D.

M.Sc/Ph.D Accounting

M.Sc./Ph.D Finance

M.Sc/Ph.D Business Administration

MBA Business Administration

M.Eng/ Ph.D Civil Engineering

M.Sc Urban and Regional Planning

M.Sc Applied Mathematics

Ph.D Mathematics

M.Sc/Ph.D Physics.

The new inclusion of these courses brings the total of undergraduate programmes in the university to a total of 56, with postgraduate programmes at 22.

The Vice Chancellor Professor Popoola, could not describe his joy as he was full of praises to God almighty, his effective and efficient team plus the entire staff of the University for the Success recorded following the recent NUC resource verification of these newly approved programmes in March of this year.

In the VC’s words, “the news of our outstanding performance in the recently concluded resource verification of twenty three new programmes by the National Universities Commission is indeed so gratifying and reassuring. It’s amazing how we continue to achieve so much within our context of resource paucity. We shall continue to work with our dedicated and winning team in the task of rebuilding and repositioning our university for even greater achievements. We certainly do not take the staunch backing of our governing council, management and staff for granted”. Senior officers and other staff members while expressing their joy commended the dynamic and purposeful leadership of Vice Chancellor, also noted “

The VC further stated that this is biggest expansion of academic programmes since the university was founded in 2007 and that the additional courses automatically means an increase in academic activities and spaces by expanding opportunities for teeming number of youths of State of Osun origin and many others across various ethnic groups in Nigeria in need of tertiary education.
