Ekiti State University has been commended for maintaining a neat academic environment while the management got a pass mark for its vision to move the University towards a world class institution.
The commendation was made by the National Universities Commission’s panels on accreditation programmes that visited the university recently.
The leaders of the 12 panels were unanimous in their observations during meetings with the EKSU management at different fora for maintaining cleanliness of the campus, provision of physical and
infrastructural facilities and adequate maintenance of such facilities.
The team leaders such as Professor O. M. Nwofor, Professor Paul Eniayewu, Prof. N. Chinyere, Professor A. G, A Oladosu, Professor Mohammed Abdulah among others also described the cooperation amongstaff and the leadership of the University as unique and unprecedented and noting that the accreditation exercise was not inquisitional but to look at the strengths and weaknesses of programmes objectively and make recommendations for improvement.
The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Patrick Oladipo Aina noted with satisfaction that the 12 panels of 70 members visited the university at a time the institution was pursuing a goal to become world class.
He was of the opinion that their findings and recommendations would be a roadmap to the attainment of that vision.
Professor Aina expressed gratitude to the panelists for their objectivity and friendliness in handling the assignment. He also appreciated the National Universities Commission (NUC) for its resilience to elevate the Nigerian Universities to enviable standard that could compete with other Universities across the globe. The EKSU Vice-Chancellor further urged the NUC to continue to maintain the
Quality Control method.
The visiting teams made up of several Professors and scholars from various Universities across Nigeria and representatives of the National Universities Commission, Abuja have since completed their
assignments.
