No fewer than 65 prison inmates across the country are set to graduate from the National Open University of Nigeria (NOUN) alongside other students of the institution in its forthcoming 12th convocation ceremony. This was disclosed by the university vice-chancellor, Prof. Olufemi Peters.
The VC noted that 58 of the inmates are undergraduates while seven are postgraduate students that were studying at no cost, as the university offers them scholarships as part of its social responsibility and provides them with the opportunity to make a living for themselves after serving their terms.
He said the convocation would take place simultaneously at the 114 study centers of the varsity across the country to get students and parents to participate from the centers close to them.
