The Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka has appointed a new Registrar. She is Barrister (Mrs)
Rosemary Ifeoma Nwokike of the Registry Department, University of Nigeria, Nsukka. Barr. Nwokike emerged tops after an elaborate interview headed by the Pro Chancellor and Chairman of the Governing Council Barr. Greg O. Mbadiwe. She scored 764 while the second and third scored 500 and 480 respectively. A total of thirteen persons applied but only ten turned out for the interview
Announcing the result of the interview the Pro Chancellor emphasized that the interview was based purely on merit. He therefore went ahead to announce Barr. Mrs Rosemary Ifeoma Nwokike as the new Registrar
The Acting Vice Chancellor Prof Carol Arinze Umobi who was one of the panelists, on behalf of the Chairman, commended the other participating panelists which include Gen Funsho Oyeneyin (Rtd), Hon Hafiz Oladepo, Hon Chief Augustine Onyedebelu, Professor Kenneth Ngwoke, Professor Anthony Okoye and Engr Dr Paul Okolie. She also thanked the University Registry staff for their dedication to duty.
The representatives of the Federal Character Commission Mr. Chinwuba Emmanuel Emeke and Mrs Nwankwo Patricia commended the interview process as transparent and worthy of emulation as the result of the interview was released immediately.
In a short ceremony the Pro Chancellor presented a formal letter of appointment to Barr. Maryrose Ifeoma Nwokike as the substantive Registrar of the University. According to the letter, the tenure is for a non-renewable 5-year term effective 23rd October 2024. The letter further stipulates that the new Registrar shall be responsible to the Vice Chancellor for the day to day running of the University.
