NLC Urges FG to Reinvent School Curriculum, Infrastructure, Teachers:
THE Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, Vice President, Issa Aremu, has urged the Federal Government to reinvent the school curriculum, infrastructure and teachers to drive the education system in the country.
Aremu gave the advice in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria, NAN, at the ongoing 20th Nigerian Economic Summit in Abuja.
The summit has the theme “Transforming Education Through Partnership for Global Competitiveness.”
Aremu, who said no school could produce best students in the worst environment, stressed the need to finance the schools to rebuild their infrastructure.

He said: “All we need to do is to return to those concrete philosophies of the past and allocate the resources to rebuild schools.
“How do we go about it? We must reinvent our school curriculum. We have to rebuild the infrastructure because you cannot produce best student in the worst environment.
“In those days, schools were more attractive than our homes because water and toilet were clean even in the university buildings.”
According to him, infrastructure without the teachers will not work well because there is need to reinvent the teachers to get the best to go back to the school system.
“It is the frustrated ones that go back to schools. In those days when you had first class and second class automatically you will return to teaching.
“Teachers must be well paid in a way that they don’t see the need to work away from their work.
“We must finance the education because human capital is the key to development.” (NAN)
