The Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta, Ogun State is to collaborate with the National Information Technology Development Agency in developing its Project Team on Staff Web Portal.
The Deputy Director, Establishment Matters (Senior Staff), Mrs. Toyin Dawodu, who represented the Registrar, Mr. Mathew Ayoola, stated this at a session between officials of the university and NITDA.
FUNAAB is one of the pilot universities in the southwest geo-political zone, earmarked for the Human Resource Management Information System and Staff Web Portal for Nigerian Universities.
The Human Resource Management Information System and Staff Web Portal provide for timely and efficient staff-record keeping update and retrieval.
The acting Head, ICTREC, Dr. Olutayo Ajayi, said the project would go a long way in providing solutions to the challenges being experienced by members of the staff and students on such matters as official leave, and annual promotions, among others.
Meanwhile, the university Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Olusola Oyewole, has been appointed as the National Coordinator of the Organic Agriculture Project in Tertiary Institutions in Nigeria.
According to the Chairman, Local Organising Committee, Dr. Jonathan Atungwu, the VC was chosen because of the university’s support for OAPTIN and for providing an enabling environment for human and technological development of organic agriculture in the country.
Atungwu added that Dr. Florence Olowokere of the Department of Soil Science and Land Management, Dr. Olalekan Sakariyawo of the Department of Plant Physiology and Crop Production and Mrs. Tunrayo Joseph-Adekunle of the Department of Horticulture were elected as national coordinating scientists, national secretary and national treasurer respectively.
