Nigeria’s Education System not Fair to Nigerian Students – Don:

Professor Okunade, of Political Science has maintained that the education system had been very unfair to Nigerian students.

According to him, “Living in despicable environment and lack of basic amenities such as water and electricity have contributed in no small measure to the deplorable situation of education in Nigeria. Education is a global commodity, there can’t be local standard.”

Commenting on the mass failure of students in the last UTME conducted by the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board (JAMB) the decried the poor exposure of Nigerian students to Information and Communication Technology (ICT) early enough, adding that some of the candidates failed the examination even before they started.

He however lamented that correct implementation of policies had been a major problem in the nation, “not only in education, but also in health, transportation and security sectors.

“If our politicians are more humane and public oriented, with the aim to serve, Nigeria would have been a better nation for us all as every kobo misappropriated translates to denial of certain necessary basic amenity”, he lamented.

President and Chairman of the Governing Council, Foreign Links Campus, Fola Akinosun, said that the school provides opportunity “to assist our teeming youths to have access to qualitative education that would help in enhancing their career opportunities in life”.

He added that the schools have a scholarship scheme in place for deserving and qualified students, noting that 2,500 students of the Colleges of Education and Health Technology and the University Access School were matriculated.
