The Police Service Commission (PSC) has announced the list of 10,000 successful applicants for recruitment into the Constable cadre of the Nigeria Police Force (NPF). This update is crucial for those who applied and are eager to start their careers in law enforcement.

Details of the Recruitment Process
Announcement and Approval
The PSC spokesperson, Ikechukwu Ani, confirmed the approval, stating, “The Commission today, Tuesday, June 4, 2024, received the report of the Police Recruitment Board. 9,000 applicants were approved for General Duty while 1,000 applicants were recruited for the Specialists cadre.”
Ensuring Fairness and Justice
The recruitment process was conducted with fairness and equity, involving guidance from key stakeholders such as the Nigeria Police Force, the National Assembly, and the Federal Character Commission. This ensured an equitable distribution of successful candidates across all 774 local government areas in Nigeria.
Recruitment Board and Process
The commission had earlier inaugurated a recruitment board consisting of representatives from various bodies, including the Nigeria Police Force, the Ministry of Police Affairs, Federal Character Commission, Police Colleges, and the Police Trust Fund. This board oversaw the entire recruitment process and reported back to the commission.
Application and Screening Stages
Interested Nigerian youths were invited to apply online through national advertisements. The application period was from 15th October to 26th November 2023.

- Shortlisted for Physical and Document Screening: 416,323
- Screening Dates: 8th January to 29th January 2024
Computer Based Tests (CBT) and Medical Screening
After the physical and credentials screening, 171,956 applicants were shortlisted for the Computer Based Tests (CBT), conducted by the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB). Following this, 15,447 General Duty applicants who performed well in the CBT were invited for medical screening.
Selection Criteria
To ensure inclusivity, 10 candidates were selected from each of the 774 local government areas, as per the National Assembly’s decision on February 29, 2024. The PSC also adhered to the Nigeria Data Protection Act of 2023, maintaining confidentiality and data security for all recruits.
