NGO visits students injured in Yobe school attack after 10days

Ten days after the killing of students of the College of Agriculture Gujba in Yobe state by suspected members of the Boko Haram insurgents, an Abuja based Non-governmental organisation, visited the injured students and relations of the students killed in the attack.

Led by comrade Idris Usman, the NGO first visited a 24 year old Musa Galadima who survived the attack and are receiving treatment at the Damaturu Specialist Hospital.

The leader of the team who presented some materials to the surviving student condemned the attack in its totality. He prayed for the quick recovery of the student and the restoration of peace in country.

Usman also visited the family of the slain lecturer of the school whose wife delivered two days after the attack and presented some relief materials to the family and prayed for the Almighty to grant him eternal rest and the family the courage to bear the loss.

The team also visited residences of other bereaved families and condoled them for the losses and urged security agents, government and relevant authorities to take necessary measures that will prevent future occurrence.

Later in an interactive session with some student leaders, Usman called on the youths to resist being used by any group against the mutual co-existence of the country and to work assiduously towards finding lasting peace in the country.

Peace, according to him, is a veritable tool for even development and urged the youth to contribute their quota towards the restoration of peace in the country.

“As the attack on schools continues, it is high time government, security agents and all took necessary measure that will end these incessant killings, Usman said.

He called on the Yobe state government to relocate the college of Agric Gujba to Damaturu the state capital and to beef up security across all existing schools in the state to prevent further attack by the insurgents

The NGO also called on the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) to call off the current strike while issues with the Federal Government are resolved through dialogue

The radical sect the Boko Haram had ten days ago launched an attack on the college of Agriculture Gujba some fifty kilometres south of Damaturu the state capital killing forty one students and one lecturer of the school.
