NGO Condemns JAMB Over Sales of Result Checking Scratch Card:

The People’s Community Development Initiative, PCODI has called on President Goodluck Jonathan and the supervising Minister of Education, Barr Nyesom Wike to order JAMB to desist from asking students to buy scratch cards for checking of results.

In a statement made available to LEADERSHIP, and signed by the president, Don Anthony Hamattan, the organisation stated that “Asking students to buy scratch cards in order to be able to see their JAMB results is absolutely uncalled for, barbaric, and a crime against humanity.”

It stated that JAMB as a parastatal under the ministry of education has an obligation to publish the results of students who have paid and sat for the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination.

In expressing its disgust and anger towards the situation, the statement said “Corruption and government extortion on the poor has grown to its highest level in Nigeria and I believe the Nigerian Immigration recruitment is still fresh in our memories. Its time government call its ministers and ministerial staffers to order so as to curb this continuous evil trend.”

“Tertiary education should be a priority for all Nigerian children now that we are having surplus in oil sales and with an economy growing at nearly 8% according to government recently published statistics. With this type of very buoyant and powerful economy or even with less, there is just no part of the world where students are meant to buy scratch cards to see their results.”

“We must stop creating unnecessary problems for Nigerians in the name of governance and bureaucracy. How many scratch cards did those in government buy during their time? Those introducing stiffer and unnecessary measures for Nigerians and their children are enemies of the public.” (Leadership)
