NECO appoints John Ogborodi as Acting Registrar

Ebikibina John Ogborodi, an indigene of Sagbama Local Government Area of Bayelsa State, has been appointed as the acting Registrar of the National Examinations Council (NECO). According to a circular issued by the board's Director, Human Resource Management, Mustapha Abdul, the Acting Registrar’s appointment was approved by the Governing Board at its emergency meeting held on 2nd June 2021.

His appointment comes after the untimely demise of the incumbent Registrar of the examination board, Professor Godswill Obioma on 1st June 2021, after a brief illness.

The Circular further explained that Mr. Ogborodi’s appointment was as a result of him being the most Senior Director in the Council, adding that all activities of the Council are to continue uninterrupted as earlier planned.

Until his appointment, he was the Director, Special Duties in the Council, and had joined the service of NECO in 1999, serving in different capacities. He was a former Acting Director, Examination Development Department; Acting Director, Office of the Registrar; Director, General Services and Director, Human Resource Management among others.

He obtained his first degree from the University of Jos in 1986 and a Master's Degree in Learning Disability from the same university in 1999.
