Philips Okolo, Ph.D. has been appointed as the new acting Director of the Institute of Peace and Security Studies (IPSS) by the Niger Delta University (NDU), Wilberforce Island, Bayelsa State.
The institution vice-chancellor, Professor Samuel Edoumiekumo, who made the appointment, said the appointment took effect from February 15, 2021.
Until his appointment Dr, Okolo was a lecturer in the Department of Political Science, Faculty of Social Sciences, of the university.
As the new acting director of IPSS, Okolo, a seasoned Peace and Conflict Resolution expert is meant to run with the vision of the Institute which includes engaging in peace, research, advocacy, and practice as well as security studies at the national, regional, and global levels.
According to his appointment letter signed by the vice-chancellor, he is expected to engage in research on the Niger Delta Conflict and provide strategic plans for its resolution.
