It is victory at last as the Niger Delta Development Commission, (NDDC) has paid over 5,000,000 dollars to 197 scholarship beneficiaries of 2019. The students which included 12 and 13 PhD students of 2016 and 2019 respectively amounting to 43 students were paid 30,000 dollars each.
Director of Corporate Affairs, NDDC, Mr. Charles Odili, further revealed that 154 Masters students were also paid 30,000 dollars each, totalling the beneficiaries to 19.
Recall that the affected students made protests on the failure of the commission to pay their tuition fees and allowances which drew the attention of the President. This further led to an investigation report by the House of Representatives on alleged mismanagement of funds by the commission.
