Insecurity: Nasarawa State engages the services of security experts in boarding schools

Nasarawa State Government has engaged the services of security experts to provide adequate security in 29 boarding secondary schools across the state.

State Commissioner for Education Science and Technology Hajiya Fatu Jimaita Sabo disclose this during the distribution of dual desk and Covid-19 personal protective equipment in Lafia. The Commissioner said following the adoption of Secondary school students in some parts of the county, the State government through the Ministry has engaged the services of security consultants to protect the lives of staff and students in our boarding schools in the state.

"For now we are starting with the boarding schools and we going to review the performance to see how we extend the service to others in phases " in doing so we looking at sizes and the population of the school she added. 

Similarly in furtherance to the commitment of this administration to the provision of quality and accessible education to the citizenry of the state the government also distributed 6500 dual desk to schools.

In addition, 179 first Aid boxes to junior secondary schools, 400 hand washing basin, 8000 pieces of liquid soap, 3000 infrared thermometers, 3500 pieces of hand sanitizers were distributed to schools to contain the spread of the virus.

Earlier, in their separate remarks, state PTA chairman, mal. Umar Ebenya, The Chief Evaluation officer of Lafia Area Evaluation office, and the state ANCOPSS president both commended the state government for the support to education and tasked the school principals for proper utilisation of the items.
