The President, National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) Mr Gbadebo, said that the body will present a bill to the National Assembly mandating the FG to pay monthly allowance to unemployed graduates.
Gbadebo in his statement said, this will help reduce the high rate of crime considering the fact that the tertiary institutions produces large number of graduates every year, so if the graduates should get a monthly allowance it will help sustain them till they can get a job.
He further said this will help check the high level of corruption in the tertiary institution.
He said the rate of crime in the country is equal to the rate of unemployment and if as a government you are responsible to your people in making sure that you give them (unemployed graduates) social insurance, the rate of crime will be reduced.
Gbadebo added that the body would equally articulate the view that Nigerian students in tertiary institutions needed access to interest-free loans for those who cannot afford the exorbitant rate charged by some schools.
