Uwame was born in Port Harcourt, Rivers State to Ekpeye parents, During her childhood days she grew up in in a strict Christian household, and she’s the third of six children in her family. Uwame’s father, who got involved in a Military Medicine, and died unfortunately when she was still a child. After her father’s death, Her mothr raised her together with her siblings. When she was four years old, she became a member of the local choir at her church, The Seventh-day Adventist.
It was there that she came to the realization that she had musical talent and potential. After successful completion of her primary and her secondary education in Abuja, Uwame got admitted into the University of Port Harcourt (UNIPORT) and secured a degree in Theatre Arts. In addition to her academic background, she also owned and operated several businesses which includes vehicle leasing company, restaurant, tailor shop and beauty salon and also she was part of Port Harcourt’s burgeoning music scene, taking executions at nightclubs and inner city bars.

She spent her child hood days in Port- Harcourt. Muma Gee became prominently known through her song titled “Kade”, that she later made the title track of her first and official album, which was released in the year 2006. Wudi Awa directed the single’s accompanying music video which got five nominations, which also includes two from the AMEN Awards (The Best Picture and also the Best Costume) and each one from the prominent Nigerian Music Video Awards, the Headies Awards, and also the Sound City Music Video Awards.

After Uwame moved to Lagos, she settled in Surulere, preferred by her because it’s a residential and commercial area of that city. Muma Gee had earlier stressed on the meaning of its title in an interview she had, “it is a courageous word that gives hope. I believe so much in empowerment. So Kade represents advocacy and empowerment towards nation building. For example, in my language, we say Kade, meaning go, but its typical meaning is keep moving on and you will get there someday.
After she released the aforementioned album, Wudi Awa later had talks with Muma Gee in regards to producing a music video for its title track single. After she shot the video oit was edited and sent to TV stations, it quickly became wide recognition, it captured the attention of music fans & lovers in Nigeria. Uwame would later be be chosen as a contestant for the AMEN Awards, Nigerian Music Video Awards, The Headies Awards, and Sound City Music Video Awards.
