Moe Musa Biography

Mohammed Musa, better known professionally as Mr. Moe Musa was born in Lagos, Nigeria on April 17th, 1984. He moved to the UK with his parents when he was 3 years old, and that means all of his education took place in Britain. Mohammed Musa attended Carshalton Boys High School, and Carshalton College. When it was time for higher studies he attended the University of West London.

Moe Musa then returned to Lagos, Nigeria, but it was after he discovered the potential in the music industry in Nigeria; and after he saw what he could do as an artist.

His first forays into the world of directing came in London; he stated in an interview that he had always wanted to be a film maker, although he had some fears initially, which needed to be overcome. That love for making videos was what guided him towards the path he threads today; although he could have easily ended up shooting movies or documentaries, or even working for television.

His first professional videos were for Stylo G back in the UK, and from there he did several other videos for artists in the UK, some of whom are Nigerians. It was from there that his fame spread back home; and artists started demanding his services, and he then decided to move back to Nigeria, so as to make it easier for Nigerian artists to have access to his talent. His presence has since attracted African artists as well, many of whom have come in from all corners of the continent to shoot their music videos with him.

Career Progression

Moe Musa established Mr Moe Musa Productions; which is his signature key with which viewers can identify his work. With this company he directs, produces, and edits his video productions. Some of the early works he did include Antenna, for Fuse ODG, featuring Wyclef Jean. That was in the year 2012.

That video’s success spurred Moe Musa to do another one for Fuse, this time with Sarkodie, and it was titled “Down on One,” which was done in the same year. Those videos attracted Wizkid’s attention, and so Moe Musa was contacted to do the video for  “Azonto” in 2013. The video was very successful, and received nominations for a few awards.

From there he literally became famous; as artists and their managers lined up for his services, and some had to wait for weeks to get him to do their videos. Some of the early videos by Moe Musa, at that time when every artist wanted to taste his talent include: Wizkid’s “On Top of Your Matter,” as well as Wizkid’s “Azonto.” Moe Musa also shot Davido’s “Skelewu,” as well as Tiwa Savage’s “Wanted.” In that rush; he also did the video for 2Face Idibia ft. Fally Ipupa.
