Mimiko Assures Modern, Quality Education for Every Child:

Governor  Olusegun Mimiko of Ondo State has assured children in the state of  modern and quality education.

Mimiko stated this on Friday at the commissioning of Igbokoda Mega Primary School, Igbokoda in Ilaje Local Government Area of the state.

“We see this as a duty to the future generations of our state as we strive to raise the bar in education standards for our children.

“It is a generational challenge to put in place a school where our pupils can learn in world-class environment with good quality facilities and highly motivated teachers trained to world class standards.

“That is why it is open to all children irrespective of socio-economic status in life and completely free of charge,” Mimiko stated.

According to him, the school has all facilities which are functioning.

“All the necessary facilities have been put in place and they are functioning.

“The whole idea is to expose our children to 21st Century education facilities.

“I reiterate that we will continue to build mega schools until every child in the state has access to this type of facilities,” he stated.

Also speaking at the venue, Mr Jide Adejuyigbe, the Commissioner for Education, said that the mega school concept was an encouraging revolution in the education sector in the state.

“What we have here is a world-class concept for the future of the state and Nigeria.

“It is a revolution by this government and it is pursuing it vigorously so that every area in Ondo State can have this special school.

“And to the glory of God, 12 have been commissioned and we will continue to build more and put them into use,” Adejuyigbe said.

Similarly, Mr Ade Adeniyi, the Chairman, State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB) said that the teachers and the pupils had been trained to make use of the modern structure.

“You can see the way the teachers and the pupils are dressed.

“They are trained for that and for the maintenance of all facilities put in place in the school so that it can last long.

“Grant is provided for its maintenance but if there is a difficult thing to repair such complaint can be forwarded to us in Akure.

“Also, we have different monitoring teams to ensure that the standards set by Gov. Olusegun Mimiko can be sustained,” Adeniyi said.

He said that the rural mega school being extended to rural areas would be spread to all localities so that the Millennium Development Goals as regards education would be achievable in the state.

Commending the effort of government, Chief Pius Jeje, the Kurugbene Community leader noted that “the school is like  a university campus,” adding that pupils attending the schools now would be given automatic admission. (NAN)
