The Governing Council of Ekiti State University has approved the appointment of Professor Mathew A. Araoye as the new Provost of the Ekiti State University College of Medicine. The appointment took effect from 1st August, 2013. He succeeded Professor G.J.F. Esan whose tenure expired recently.
Professor Araoye will be responsible to the Vice-Chancellor, the Governing Council and the College Court of Governors for the Administration of the College of Medicine.
An Emeritus Professor of Medicine, Professor Araoye hails from Ilawe-Ekiti in Ekiti State. The new Provost of EKSU College of Medicine was the pioneer Provost of College of Health Sciences, Benue State University, a position he held, before joining the services of Ekiti State University on August 20, 2011.
Professor Araoye had also worked in University of Ilorin. He is a member of several professional organisations such as Association of Physician of Nigeria, Nigeria Cardiac Society, American College of Cardiology, and West African College of Physicians among others.
Professor Araoye is a Fellow of Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada, Fellow / Life member of America Medical College of Physicians of Nigeria and Fellow/Life member American College of Physicians.
He is a Visiting Professor to the Several Institutions.
An erudite Scholar, the new Provost has authored several books and has several publications both local and international journals to his credit.
The Vice-Chancellor, Professor Patrick Oladipo Aina has since congratulated Professor Araoye on his new appointment.
