MAPOLY Gets New Rector – Dr. Adeoye Adedeji

Abiodun appointed Odedeji as the Acting Rector of MAPOLY in December 2019.

Following his appointment, the State Ministry of Education advertised for competent persons to apply for the position of Rector at the polytechnic.

The State Government examined and thoroughly interviewed all applicants, including Odedeji.

Months later, the government hesitated to reveal its verdict on the outcome of the interview, as many engaged in heavy lobbying to force Odedeji out of the race, according to DAILY POST.

However, in a letter signed by Mrs. Olaseni Abosede Ogunleye, Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Education, Science, and Technology, the Governor accepted Odedeji’s nomination as Rector of the premier Ogun polytechnic.

“I have the directive of the Honorable Commissioner for Education, Science, and Technology to inform you that the Executive Governor of Ogun State, Prince Dapo Abiodun, MFR, in the exercise of his power as the Visitor to the Polytechnic, has approved your appointment as the Rector of Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, Abeokuta,” the letter states.

Odedeji was born on January 14, 1963, in Igan-Alade, Ketu Constituency, Yewa North Local Government Area of Ogun State, according to MAPOLY spokesperson Yemi Ajibola.

He began as a Lecturer II at the polytechnic in 1996 and ascended through the ranks to become Chief Lecturer in 2015.

Odedeji holds a BSc. (Hons) Sociology & Anthropology (1987) and an M.Sc Sociology & Anthropology (1989) from the University of Ife, now Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife (1989).

In 2014, he received his Doctorate in Agriculture Extension and Rural Development (Rural Sociology) from the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta.
