MAPOLY gets a new Rector

The Governor of Ogun State, Prince Dapo Abiodun CON, has approved the appointment of Arc. Dr. Babatunde Adekoyejo Jolaoso as the 10th Substantive Rector of Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, Abeokuta with effect from Friday, 6th December, 2024.

The appointment approval was contained in a letter with reference number MOEST/HSC.1/9, dated 3rd December, 2024, signed by the Hon. Commissioner for Education Science and Technology, Prof. Abayomi Arigbabu and addressed to the Chairman, Governing Council, Emeritus Prof. Kamaldeen Balogun.

It should be noted that the tenure of the outgoing Rector, Dr. Adeoye Odedeji will expire on Thursday, 5th December, 2024 after the completion of a single term of five years since 2019.

While announcing the appointment at the Council Chambers on Wednesday, 4th December, 2024 as approved, Prof. Balogun appreciated the Governor for his interest in the Polytechnic and wished the new Rector a successful tenure.

Until his appointment, Arc. Dr. Jolaoso is a Chief Lecturer in the Department of Architecture of the Polytechnic, the post he held since 2015.

He is the first Alumnus to emerge as the Rector of the 45-year old institution. He joined the services of the Polytechnic as Laboratory Assistant at Oke-Egunya Campus in 1982.

An Alumnus of the Ogun State Polytechnic (now Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, Abeokuta), Architecture for both National Diploma and Higher National Diploma with Upper Credit from 1985 to 1988 respectively.

He proceeded to Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria for his BSc and M.Sc in Architecture between 1989 and 1994 respectively. Arc. Dr. Jolaoso bagged his PhD. Degree in Architecture from the Federal University of Technology, Akure in 2018.

He is a Registered Architect and a Fellow, Association of Nigerian Chatered Architects; Institute of Chartered Administrators of Nigeria; Chartered Institute of Public Diplomacy and Management; Institute of Management Specialist, UK among others.

He is also a Full Member, Association of Architectural Educators in Nigeria and Incorporate Member, Chartered Institution of Building (UK).

He has about 78 Publications and 4 Research Activities to his credit. He speaks English, Yoruba and Hausa languages fluently. Arc. Dr. Babatunde Adekoyejo Jolaoso is happily married Dr. Mrs. Azeezat Adeola Jolaoso and blessed with children.
