Applications are invited from suitably qualified staff members for exchange programmes (academic and admin) within AWaRMN, in any of the Higher Education Institutions in the partnership namely: Makerere University, Rhodes University, South Africa, Federal University of Technology, Minna, Nigeria, and University of Kinshasa, Congo.

About Makerere University

Established in 1922 as a humble technical school, Makerere University is one of the oldest and most prestigious English Universities in Africa. In January of that year, the school, which was later renamed Uganda Technical College, opened its doors to 14 day students who began studying Carpentry, Building and Mechanics. The College soon began offering various other courses in Medical Care, Agriculture , Veterinary Sciences and Teacher Training. Aim and Benefits of African Water Resources Mobility Network (AWaRMN) Exchange Programmes

For successful applicants, AWaRMN funding will cover the following areas: Subsistence allowance: 1200 Euro per month. Economy class roundtrip flight ticket and visa costs Insurance (Health, accident, and travel)

Requirements for African Water Resources Mobility Network (AWaRMN) Exchange Programmes Qualification

To be eligible for support from AWaRMN, applicants must:

  1. Be a national of an African Union member state and resident in Africa at the time of application.
  2. A staff of one of the partner institutions.
  3. Must be prepared to move from home country to another country where AWaRMN has a partner institution. This also applies to foreign applicants who resides in a country with AWaRMN institution. For such applicants, you must then consider applying to a third country. For example, you are a Ugandan, but resides in South Africa or have studied in South Africa, you can not apply to Rhodes University in South Africa or Makerere in Uganda. Scholarships are attached to mobility. Scholarships are attached to mobility and therefore you cannot apply to an institution in the country where you are a citizen or where you reside.
  4. Submit a work plan of your activities for the intended mobility.
