Front line Nigeria cable Company, Main One, last week said that unless there was a holistic adoption of ICT into the Nigerian secondary and tertiary institutions, it may be difficult to produce 21st century graduates that are ruling world economies now.
Chief Executive Officer of the company, Ms Funke Opeke who made the assertion, hinted that ICT presents great opportunities for redirecting objectives of educational development from knowledge to economic empowerment.
Speaking at the 5th Commencement Ceremony of the American University of Nigeria, Yola recently, Opeke said that only a holistic incorporation of ICT into the Nigerian educational system can produce graduates, who are ICT-compliant, economically and digitally empowered to contribute to national development.
Opeke, represented by the company’s Head of Sales, Bolanle Ogundogba,said her company was determined to boost ICT use especially in secondary and tertiary institutions in Nigeria.
She said that “our effort at Main One is hinged on strengthening global competitiveness of the Nigerian student, ensuring their continued relevance to themselves and their society, and the need to get Nigeria’s educational institutions relevant on the global stage through improved access to ICT.
That is why we have consistently supported educational institutions, and improved their administrative and education processes.”
