BUK commences Lectures amidst tight Covid-19 protocols

With the resumption of academic activities in Bayero University, Kano on Monday, 18th January, 2021, lectures have commenced in all the faculties as the University Management has put tight measures on observing all the covid-19 protocols.

The University management has vowed to send anybody out of school that violates the covid-19 protocols.

The Vice Chancellor, Professor Sagir Adamu Abbas, Director of Health, Dr. Munir Sulaiman, Dean, Student Affairs, Dr. Shamsudden Umar and other management staff inspected lecture venues and other facilities to ensure strict compliance with all the protocols.

The Vice Chancellor told news men that from the school’s gate, no student, staff or visitor would be allowed into the University without wearing face mask and hand washing machines and sanitizers have been provided.

On the issue of social distancing, “we told the students to as a matter of priority give two meter gap with one another and the students must not sit in one place as done before,” said the Vice Chancellor.

He added that the University Management commissioned another luxurious bus for conveying students to and from the campuses with stringent measures. “We have told the drivers not to allow anybody inside without face mask and if any driver violates, we will sanction him immediately,” he added.

According to the Vice Chancellor, the biggest challenge the University faces is how to ensure social distancing in the hostels. He added that the management toured the hostel facilities and took measures to evict squatters brought by their friends secretly to occupy the rooms thereby congesting it.
