A lecturer with the Federal College of Education, Umunze, has dragged the institution before the National Industrial Court, Awka, Anambra state, over his alleged unlawful dismissal. In the suit, the institution's governing council, the Provost, Dr. Tessy Okoli and the registrar, Mrs. B. C Nkah were named as co-defendants.
The lecturer identified as Dr. Albert Tobechukwu Nwamaradi is seeking to stop the college management from discussing, deliberating, or making any recommendations regarding his National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) discharge certificate, or exemption certificate/ letter prior to his employment with the college. He is also asking the court to bar the college and its representatives from further interfering with his rights and privileges.
Dr. Nwamaradi further asked the court to compel the college to award him N900 million as damages for the intimidation, harassment, loss of earnings, and physiological trauma, he suffered as a result of his constructive dismissal, and also, another N150 million as damages among other reliefs.
