Lasu Students Protest Lands In A Clash With The Police

There was tension at the Lagos State University (LASU), Ojo, Lagos, on Monday, after students protesting against the death of a 500-level student, identified as Ugwanyi Onyekachi ended up in a clash with the police.

The President of the Students Union Government, Samuel Kappo, was arrested by the police in the process.

Onyekachi was reported to have died after he had an altercation with a truck driver, who bashed his car on the LASU-Isheri Road.

The disagreement was said to have degenerated into a fight, during which the victim was stabbed to death by the driver, who immediately fled the scene.

LASU students on Monday trooped out to protest against the killing, as motorists were held in a gridlock for hours.

Policemen at the Igando division were said to have used tear gas on the students some of who reportedly attacked the police team after the SUG president was arrested.
