The Lagos State University Centre for General Nigeria Studies (LASU-CGNS) and the Triune Biblical University global extension United States of America (USA) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding that will facilitate teaching and examination of GNS courses for TBU Students in Nigeria and West Africa.
The MoU was signed on Thursday, 6th May 2021, in the Conference room of the Vice-Chancellor, 6th floor, Babatunde Raji Fashola Senate Building, Main Campus, Ojo, Lagos.
The Director of CGNS, Prof. Biodun Akinpelu in his speech said “It is on record that the current global pandemic, Covid-19, has brought the world closer to reality, not only about the Global Village concept in its general interpretation as it affects almost all facets of life but, has equally given us a more realistic view of the concept of Classroom Without Walls…we are gathered to celebrate an educational handshake between Countries. The Triune Biblical University Global Extension United States of America (USA), which has made its presence felt in a number of States in America, Europe and some countries in Africa, has extended its instructional content interest to Nigeria through the Lagos State University, (LASU), and specifically the Centre for General Nigerian Studies of the University. This is a priority that is indeed well placed, as LASU has proved itself over the years as a leading University, not only in Nigeria but in Africa.
Today, the Centre is teaching close to eight thousand (8,000) LASU students on GNS 102, apart from taking all GNS Courses in the specialized University – the Eko University of Medicine and Health Sciences, EKOUNIMED, Ijanikin here in Lagos, let me also stress that LASU has the capacity to accommodate Hundreds of Thousands of students in any of our Online Courses, and we are ready to initiate academic Programmes at Degree, Diploma and Certificate Levels with your University, based on the core areas of needs of the Nigerian Society.” he said
