Lagos State University (LASU) and Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI), on Friday, 19th August, 2022, signed a Memorandum of Understanding to establish Diploma and Postgraduate Diploma Courses in Entrepreneurial Studies and other mutually beneficial areas. The MoU was signed by the leaders of the two organisations, Prof. Ibiyemi Olatunji-Bello, mni, Vice Chancellor, LASU and Dr. Chinyere Almona, FCA, Director General, LCCI, at a brief ceremony, which held at the Vice Chancellor's Conference Room, LASU main campus, Ojo.
Speaking on the partnership, LASU helmsman, Prof. Olatunji-Bello, expressed her confidence that the partnership would work and deliver a lot of benefits young people with interest in entrepreneurship.
"LASU's commitment to entrepreneurship is unrivalled in the comity of Universities in Nigeria. With this partnership, our graduates are poised to achieve multilevel heights and bring to bear more advantages on the varied sectors of the economy. We are enthused about this collaboration. It is a marriage that will definitely work", she said.
Dr. Almona, DG LCCI, on her part, said the partnership is aimed at meeting emerging global challenges: "No single institution, no matter how large or well endowed, can address future challenges alone. Thus, the signing of this Memorandum of Understanding between our great institutions today symbolizes a partnership which we believe will lead to many more accomplishments in the field of management and entrepreneurial development, learning solutions that will ultimately impact productivity and organizational growth."
The Diploma and Postgraduate Diploma Programmes, which are expected to commence upon the signing of the MoU, would run under the LASU Consult Limited for five (5) years at the first instance providing opportunities for members of the general public to seek admission into the Programmes.
The Registrar, Mr. Emmanuel Fanu and Director, LASU Consult Limited, Prof. Ibrahim Bakare, also signed the dotted lines on behalf of LASU, while Dr. Taiwo Nolas-Alausa, Director, Business Education Services and Training, LCCI joined the LCCI DG to sign the document at a ceremony, which had in attendance members of the University Management and heads of relevant centres in the university.
The collaboration was brokered by the Acting Director, Directorate of Special Intervention, Dr. Taiwo Afisi.
