Eight students of the Lagos State University were yesterday arraigned before an Ikeja magistrate court in connection with the protest held by the students of the institution earlier in the week for alleged breach of public peace and of allegedly hijacking a vehicle, LAGBUS No P004 with number plate SMK 719 XK, property of Lagos State Government.
The students who pleaded not guilty to the charge leveled against them accused the police of rough handling them.
The name of the students are Bolarinwa Olamide (male, 23), Oludare Samuel Olayinka (male, 18), Oni Victoria (female, 18), Fatukasi Timilehin (male, 19) and Babatunde Bolarinwa (male, 24), Ajayi Taiwo (female, 24), Olatimihan Taiwo (female, 20) old and Akani Segun (male, 27).
The students have been granted bail at the sum of N10, 000 each with a surety who must be related to them.
However parents of some of the students have said that their wards are not students of LASU but were wrongly arrested by the police on the streets during the protest last Tuesday.
