Landmark University appoints Prof. Aremu as 4th substantive Vice Chancellor

The Board of Regents (BOR) led by the Chairman and Chancellor, Landmark University, Dr David Oyedepo and the Pro-Chancellor, Pastor (Mrs.) Faith Oyedepo has appointed Professor Charity Aremu as the 4th substantive Vice-Chancellor of Landmark University with effect from 1st October 2021. 

This was disclosed by the Secretary to the Board, Pastor Frederick Aghahuwa at the Management meeting held on Tuesday 28th June, 2022, Pastor Aghahuwa noted that the Proprietor base approved the appointment of the Vice-Chancellor after serving meritoriously at the acting capacity for eight months. 

Pastor Frederick Aghahuwa who also doubles as University Secretary while reading the letter from the Proprietor base said the appointment of the Vice-Chancellor is a four-year tenure which may be renewable once; he then urged members of Management as well as the university community to continually support the newly appointed Vice-Chancellor with prayers, understanding and cooperation while leading the University to attaining her vision. Pastor Aghahuwa who called for teamwork, unity of purpose and excellence emphasised the importance of speaking with unity of purpose across all platforms. He thereafter thanked the proprietor base for always giving the privilege to serve in different capacities. 

Responding, the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Charity Aremu who expressed gratitude to God for finding her worthy of the assignment, appreciated the Chancellor, Dr. David Oyedepo and the Pro-Chancellor, Pastor (Mrs.) Faith Oyedepo for availing her the privilege to serve as the Vice-Chancellor of Landmark University. Professor Aremu promised to work in tandem with the vision and mission of the University while driving new vistas and innovations in research and product development. She then appreciated members of management for supporting her as the Acting Vice-Chancellor. “There is no King without the broad spectrum of his followers, I am only privileged to lead while you follow”, she says.  

In her remarks, the Registrar, Miss Adefunke Fola Oyinloye said that Professor Charity Aremu’s appointment as the Vice-Chancellor, just like any other appointment in the Landmark University context, is ordained by God, noting that anything going contrary to this is like going contrary to God. Miss Oyinloye then urged all to support the leadership of the Vice-Chancellor in driving the vision and mission of the institution. 

Until her appointment as the 4th Substantive Vice-Chancellor, Professor Charity Aremu served as the Dean School of Postgraduate Studies (DSPS), Dean College of Agricultural Science (DCAS), Chairperson Teaching and Research Farm Board, Chair, University Health Service Board, Chair, Senate Business Committee (SBC) and has chaired several University committees. The Professor of Plant Breeding and Genetics, has published over eighty articles in international and local journals and an active member of African Scientists, and African Plant Breeders Society
