Lagos to Stop Employing Teachers Without TRCN Certificate:
The Lagos State Commissioner for Education, Mrs Olayinka Oladunjoye, said yesterday that teachers without the Teachers Registration Council of Nigeria, TRCN, Certificate would no longer be employed in the state.
Oladunjoye made the statement during the first induction ceremony of the council for graduates of National Teachers Institute’s, NTI, National Certificate of Education, NCE, programme and Post Graduate Diploma in Education, PGDE, graduates of the institute for the 2010-2012 session.

250 NCE and 600 PGDE students who graduated from NTI were inducted by the council during the ceremony.
The commissioner was represented by Mr. Banji Alase, Policy Officer from the state Ministry of Education at the occasion.
“There will be no more employment for teachers without the TRCN certificate and those in service without the certificate will no longer be promoted.”
She, however, pleaded with the body to dispatch the 4,000 certificates in its custody to their respective owners.
Oladunjoye also requested the council to strengthen the disciplinary committee set up five years ago for the monitoring of teachers, so as to enhance qualitative education.
“Teachers involved in examination malpractice and immoral acts with students should be taken before the disciplinary committee set up by TRCN,” she said.
