In a state holders' forum marking the 1,700 days in office, the present Lagos state government headed by the number one citizen of Lagos, Babatunde Fashola have given a concession to the students of the Lagos state university extending the deadline for school fees payment and permitting them to pay in instalments.
The people's governor, who said the Vice Chancellor of the institution, Prof. John Obafunwa had earlier made a similar request. admitted that "The students are our children, we want them in school, and we want
them to have the best of education".
SchoolGist gathered that in a letter delivered to the governor on Thursday, January 5, 2012, the Vice Chancellor of the institution informed the governor that the extension of the registration deadline would enable more students to register.
Prof. Obafunwa, In the letter also explained that allowing the students to pay their fees instalmentally, would also ensure a level of discipline on the part of parents and students.
Giving the concession, Fashola reiterated his administration's commitment towards restoring the standard of learning in the institution and urged staff and students to cooperate with government
